A pritchel holdfast is a blacksmithing tool designed to be  particularly useful when more than two hands are needed to hold the work.

A bottle openers is an excellent starting point for learning blacksmithing.
They offer a variety of foundational skills and can be scaled in complexity as you progress  with simple designs  and gradually increase the complexity as your skills improve into a more decorative or ornate ones.

In this video I will be forging a set of tongs made from mild steel.

This technique must be one of the easiest ways to make tongs. Its also super quick. I can make these tongs in 20mins flat. The tong make a great beginner project for some one looking to broaden there forge skills. If your frustrated at tong making this might just get you over the hump.

With this video I want to show how you can forge your own first pair of blacksmithing tongs, by hand, with basic tools only. A perfect project for someone starting, who has gathered the basic setup with a forge, anvil, vice and hammers. No tongs needed! I would almost argue this should be your very first project. Tongs are essential, even for the beginner projects like hooks and such.
